5 famous people who will prove it’s never too late

Do you yearn for a change in your role? Do you have something else inside that’s bursting to come through?

Over time you might have noticed this grumble getting louder. The desire to live in alignment with your passions smoulders but never goes away.

It’s time to listen to that deep knowing and pursue more creativity.

I know you might believe that creativity doesn’t provide security, but you’re mistaken. You can make a career out of your passion.

Maybe you have a flair for design, a way with words, a passion for art or simply have an interest in these areas.

These creative urges have real work grounding, and you can find success and enjoyment, pursuing what sparks your interest and passion.

It’s never too late to pursue your creative passion, and we have the proof.

Here are five successful people who made the change towards a creative career.

Ang Lee

Ang Lee is known for directing Life of Pi and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Did you know he was a stay-at-home dad for six years?

While he worked in film crews now and then, he didn’t see his first film screened until he was thirty-eight! His wife insisted that he shouldn’t give up on his dreams.

That first small screening was The Wedding Banquet. A film that hit the international scene with unexpected and extraordinary success.

It just goes to prove you can always return to your passions no matter what your commitments might be.

Anna Mary Robertson Moses

Warmly known as Grandma Moses, she is an iconic rural artist and her paintings have been sold in the millions.

But did you know she started devoting her time to painting in her seventies?

Yup, before she began her career as an artist, she ran a farm with her husband and raised five children.

Her paintings were hanging in a local store when they caught the eye of an art dealer. That’s how she got her big break.

She was entirely self-taught!

Anna Mary’s story proves it’s never too late to start learning.

Giorgio Armani

Armani is one of the most recognisable names in the fashion industry, and in 2013, he had a whopping $8.5 billion in the bank.

Did you know he spent two years studying medicine before joining the army?

After returning from service he left his studies and worked at a department store.  There he did freelance designs while working his way up.

Armani founded his own design company at the age of forty-one.

Sometimes you need to try other things before finding the thing you love most.

Marcus Bleasdale

Marcus is a photojournalist who has been published in the national geographic, won prizes from Royal Photographic Society and has been nominated for an Emmy.

Did you know he was an investment banker before his dramatic career change?

Marcus up and left his job, his cosy salary, sold his houses and donated his material goods to charity to do something good in this world. He didn’t figure it out until he got on a plane and found himself smack in the middle of the Balkans.

At twenty-nine Marcus threw himself into a career he had no idea he was going to do.

If you don’t risk something, then you won’t gain anything.

Vivian Westwood

Westwood was cutting edge punk, and new wave fashion and The Sex Pistols famously wore her designs.

Did you know before leading the most famous punk fashion label Westwood was a school teacher?

She started out working at a local factory and then taught young minds. At 30 years old she opened a boutique store, and the rest is history.

She continues to be a success long after the raging punk scene ended.

So, what is it you are itching to do?

Go out and get that camera you’ve always wanted, or sign up for those art classes you’ve been meaning to go to.
