“A professional is someone who can do his best work when he doesn’t feel like it.” Alistair Cook
There comes a point in every small business owner’s life when things start getting harder.
You’re pushing without seeing results or the dream of running your own business doesn’t match the reality.
At this point, a thought may pop into your head: What if I just gave up?
Starting a business is no picnic. There can be limited resources, you need to expand your skill-set, and you pour your heart and soul into your vision.
This can build up over time, and you may experience natural overwhelm.
Maybe you’re at the point in your project where the tough, gritty work has to be done, and you’re losing momentum.
Or, perhaps you’re starting to feel stuck, and doubt is holding you back.
Working for yourself is challenging but incredibly rewarding. You should be proud of all the hard work you’ve put in to create your business.
There is a way to keep going and move your business to the next level.
We are sharing our top tips for finding motivation and revving up that work engine.
Remind yourself why you want to keep going
Go back to the beginning and reacquaint yourself with the reasons why you started your business. What gave you the drive to begin?
Find the roots of your passion again and ask yourself what it was you wanted to get out of this venture.
If you’ve lost sight of your mission statement, you may find that your business has gone off track.
Once you remember what you wanted to do, it will be easier to feel motivated again.
Get some help
If you’re struggling, the best thing you can do it talk to somebody and ask for help.
Draw on your networks. You can ask another business owner who can help you with the issues you are having and seek their advice.
Take on board this feedback and move forward with confidence, knowing that your business has had a positive effect on somebody.
Be proud of what you’ve done
Allow yourself to be proud of what you have accomplished so far.
Not everybody has the confidence to start their own business.
Appreciate that your work has value and let yourself feel good about it.
Accept challenges
Roadblocks are inevitable. Every successful entrepreneur has faced setbacks and failures at some point in their career.
It’s what you do with these challenges that make all the difference.
Don’t let them get you down. Instead, please take a deep breath and focus on how to get through them.
Change your thoughts
Fear will only drive us to give up on the things we want.
When we look at our abilities through a lens of doubt, we limit ourselves. To the point in which we believe we are not capable.
You are more than capable.
Try swapping out these thoughts and think about ways in which you can accomplish and achieve.
